Karen Page And Foggy Nelson Will Appear In Daredevil: Born Again
A new report suggests Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson are back in Hell's Kitchen
According to a Friday report by Jeff Snyder, fan-favorite characters Karen Page and Franklyn “Foggy” Nelson will appear on MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again, after the series has been re-worked.
Earlier reports had suggested that neither Deborah Ann Woll nor Elden Henson would be part of the new Disney+ series, in fact they had suggested that Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) dealing with the tragic loss of his friends would be a major plot point of the story, and many fans were justifiable outraged given that these characters played a really important part of Matt’s life on Netflix’s Daredevil.
A few months ago comicbook.com reported that Daredevil: Born Again was beginning to be creatively retooled, a decision made when production paused due to the SAG-AFTRA actors' strike.
According to the report, Marvel Studios was able to review their existing footage, which covered multiple episodes, and they decided to seek a new creative direction for the show. As a result, previous head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman departed the series.
The site also alleged that Matt Murdock would not suit up as Daredevil until the second part of the series. This was apparently a point of contention with the original creative team, and one of the main reasons why Marvel Studios decided to “go back to formula”.
The directing duo of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who have helmed episodes of Moon Knight and Loki Season 2 are set to take over the creative control of the re-tooled first season.
The new series will also include Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin, fresh from his appearance in Echo, which premiered this week.
While the return of these actors has not been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios, bringing them back is truly an amazing decision given that Marvel has also decided to make Daredevil and the rest of the Netflix “Defenderverse” canon to the “Sacred Timeline” of the MCU.
There is no official release date for Daredevil: Born Again, but we can confidently say that the alleged return of these characters is a sign that “going back to formula” and re-tooling the series from scratch was a very good idea, not to mention that it will go back to it’s TV-MA roots as part of the brand new Marvel Spotlight banner.
We will keep you update on this developing story.
